There are over 100 different types of cancer, and each is classified by the type of cell that is initially affected. Cancer harms the body when damaged cells divide uncontrollably to form lumps or masses of tissue called tumors (except in the case of leukemia where cancer prohibits normal blood function by abnormal cell division in the blood stream). <\/strong><\/p>\n

Tumors can grow and interfere with the digestive, nervous, and circulatory systems, and they can release hormones that alter body function. Tumors that stay in one spot and demonstrate limited growth are generally considered to be benign. More dangerous, or malignant, tumors form when two things occur:<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. a cancerous cell manages to move throughout the body using the blood or lymph systems, destroying healthy tissue in a process called invasion<\/strong><\/p>\n

2. that cell manages to divide and grow, making new blood vessels to feed itself in a process called angiogenesis.<\/strong><\/p>\n

When a tumor successfully spreads to other parts of the body and grows, invading and destroying other healthy tissues, it is said to have metastasized. This process itself is called metastasis, and the result is a serious condition that is very difficult to treat. Cancer is ultimately the result of cells that uncontrollably grow and do not die. Normal cells in the body follow an orderly path of growth, division, and death. MAINSTREAM METHODS OF CANCER TREATMENT –<\/strong><\/p>\n

1) Invasive Surgery: This is often seen in the removal of the prostate or a breast or testicle.<\/strong><\/p>\n

2) Chemotherapy: Utilizes chemicals that interfere with the cell division process – damaging proteins or DNA – so that cancer cells will “commit suicide”. Common side effects such as hair loss, nausea, fatigue, vomiting…and further metasticising of the cancer.<\/strong><\/p>\n

3) Hormone Therapy: Designed to alter hormone production in the body so that cancer cells stop growing or are killed completely. Breast cancer hormone therapies often focus on reducing estrogen levels. A common drug for this is Tamoxifen<\/a>. ‘While the initial findings of Tamoxifen’s role in breast cancer treatment seemed so promising, further research presented grave concerns for its widespread use. In fact the Physicians Desk Reference lists 25 adverse reactions to Tamoxifen. Some can be fatal. Side effects include Menopausal\u00a0 symptoms, Liver Cancer & Liver Disease, Uterine & Gastrointestinal Cancer, Eye Damage, Blood Clots, Psychological Symptoms, Asthma, Vocal Cord Changes.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Use of CT Scans for Cancer Diagnosis\/Treatment: ‘Computed tomography (CT) is a diagnostic procedure that uses special x-ray equipment to obtain cross-sectional pictures of the body. In cancer, CT is used to detect a tumor, provide information about the extent of the disease, help plan treatment, and determine whether the cancer is responding to treatment. A CT scan uses slightly more radiation than a chest x-ray, but the benefits generally outweigh the risks.’ National Cancer Institute<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

‘Hospitals Performed Needless Double CT Scans, Records Show: In 2008, about 75,000 patients received double scans, one using iodine contrast to check blood flow, and one that did not. \u201cIf you do both, you bill for both,\u201d Dr. Pentecost said. Breast Cancer Study Finds Parabens in Virtually All Tumors ‘A comprehensive study published in the January 2012 issue of the Journal of Applied Technology shows more evidence of a correlation between parabens and incidences of breast cancer. 99 percent — of the tissue samples collected from women participating in the study contained at least one paraben, and 60 percent of the samples contained no less than five parabens. Parabens are chemicals used as a preservative in a number of cosmetics and personal care products including deodorant, shampoo, makeup, lotions and oral care products, as well as in processed food items and some pharmaceutical products. Underarm deodorants often contain parabens and have been thought to contribute to an increased risk of high paraben levels in the body that have been linked to breast cancer. But according to Darbre’s team, even women who did not use underarm deodorant were found to have parabens present in breast tissue<\/a>.’<\/strong><\/p>\n
