There has been an alarming drop in the male sperm count over the past few decades; as much as a 50% reduction in most studies. As inter-generational vaccine uptake continues, the systemic exposure to Bisphenal A Plastics, Sodium Fluoride, Oral Contraceptive-contaminated groundwater, a plethora of toxic chemicals & pesticides, GMO foods coupled with the widespread elimination of natural food sources due to GMO contamination of natural crops, the creeping slide toward a thinning out of the population is accelerating. Assuming these trends continue within 40 years the average male will be virtually sterile. Eventually the gift of having children will have become a scarcity amongst the population as the decline in health standards goes up.

SCIENTIFIC STUDIES & STERILITY:

‘Exposure of pregnant mice to oestrogen has been shown to impair Leydig-cell development as well as reducing Sertoli cell number as outlined previously. Oestrogens negatively regulate Leydig-cell development via inhibition of Leydig precursor cell replication. This results in a decrease in testosterone production and thus reduced masculinisation in the animal, this is reflected by a reduction in sperm production. Recent research has shown that many man made chemicals (i.e. Bisphenal A Plastics) can act as weak oestrogens (xeno-oestrogens), mimicking in part the actions of our own natural hormones directly and indirectly. These chemicals are present in the plastic lining of food cans, in pesticides, in plastics and in paints. In laboratories many designed chemicals have been shown to have oestrogenic effects. Oestrogen receptors allow many hundreds of different chemicals to bind to them. In some cases the chemicals have structures so dissimilar to that of the bodies natural oestradiol that they would never normally be thought of as having hormonal activity. These chemicals are very weak oestrogens, but if given in high enough amounts they can activate oestrogen receptors in much the same way as natural hormones do.

Professor Niels Skakkeback, a Danish scientist and his team in the Department of Growth and Development at Copenhagen University had reviewed 61 international studies involving 14,947 men between 1938 and 1992. They found that the average sperm count had fallen from 113 million per millilitre in 1940 to 66 million in 1990. In addition, the definition of a “normal” sperm count fell from 60 million per millilitre to 20 million in the same period.

Subsequent studies have confirmed and strengthened Skakkebaek’s findings. A survey of 1,350 sperm donors in Paris found a decline in sperm counts by around 2% each year over the past 23 years, with younger men having the poorest-quality semen. In another study at the University of Helsinki led by Jarkko Farjarinen, testicular tissue was examined at post-mortem from 528 middle-aged Finnish men who died suddenly in either 1981 or 1991. Among the men who died in 1981, 56.4% had normal, healthy sperm production. By 1991, however, this figure had dropped dramatically to 26.9%. The average weight of the men’s testes decreased over the decade, while the proportion of useless fibrous testicular tissue increased. Adamopoulos et al in Athens examined 23,850 men between 1977 to 1993 (17 years) and found similar results to Farjarinen. In Edinburgh a recent study by Irwin saw a 50% decrease in sperm count over 40 years.’

Secular Decline in Male Testosterone and Sex Hormone Binding Globulin Serum Levels in Danish Population Surveys:
‘The objective of the study was to examine whether an age-independent time trend in male serum testosterone levels exists. Serum testosterone levels decreased and SHBG levels increased with increasing age. In addition to this expected age effect, significant secular trends in testosterone and SHBG serum levels were observed in age-matched men with lower levels in the more recently born/studied men.’

A Mixture of Five Phthalate Esters Inhibits Fetal Testicular Testosterone Production in the Sprague-Dawley Rat in a Cumulative, Dose-Additive Manner:

‘Carlsen et al.(1992) published a provocative study which suggested that human semen quality had declined by ~ 50% from 1930 to 1991. Many subsequent studies criticized or re-analysed the original meta-analysis but the trends and conclusions have been reaffirmed (Swan et al. 1997, 2000, Skakkebaek et al. 2001). The analysis of historical data suggests that the decrease in sperm quality is a birth cohort effect, with later year of birth being linked to poor semen quality i.e. the younger generation have poorer semen quality than the older generation (Irvine 1994).

There are a number of commonly used environmental chemicals that have been identified as having anti-androgenic properties. These chemicals have been administered to pregnant rodents during the period of reproductive tract development. When the male pups were examined, they displayed many of the abnormalities associated with flutamide administration. Some chemicals (vinclozolin, procymidone, linuron, p,p’DDE (1,1,1-dichloro-2,2-bis(p-chlorophenyl)ethane) act as androgen receptor antagonists, others (phthalate esters) reduce androgen synthesis, but it is likely that other modes of action are also involved in the toxicity induced by these compounds (Gray et al. 2001).’

BISPHENOL A PLASTIC – ESTROGEN MIMICKING SYNTHETIC HORMONE:

Report on Public Health Concerns – Phthalates and Bisphenol A: Laboratory studies have demonstrated that phthalate compounds and bisphenol A – chemicals that are used in the manufacture of plastics – can mimic, or otherwise interfere with human hormones and thus create the potential for problems with normal growth and development and health. Phthalates are a class of chemicals that are used in many household and personal care products, toys, medical supplies and in plastics. Their particular function is to improve the flexibility of the chemical product – to allow it to be more malleable. There are many different types of phthalates, which all share a basic chemical structure. Some phthalate compounds are more toxic than others.

Note: Phthalate chemicals that have been most closely associated with adverse developmental and reproductive health effects are diethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP), dibutyl phthalate (DBP), and butyl benzyl phthalate (BBP).

Bisphenol A is an industrial chemical used in the manufacture of polycarbonate plastic and
epoxy resins. Bisphenol A is used in a variety of consumer products including water bottles, the
inside lining of cans, in some types of baby bottles, an in some dental fillings. BPA is a main
ingredient in plastics and resins – it is not an “additive” like phthalates.
Are we exposed to these chemicals – do they get into our bodies?

Phthalates are ubiquitous in our environment. According to the U.S. Center for Disease
Control’s (CDC) most recent chemical exposure report, which assessed human body burdens of
chemicals, phthalates were found in nearly 100% of the population. This means that EVERY
one of us has man-made phthalates residing in our bodies. They are also in women’s breast
milk and can be passed on during breastfeeding. Levels of some phthalates in some women of
childbearing age, including DBP and DEHP, exceeded the government’s “safe” levels set to
protect against birth defects. A report documenting levels of several phthalates in children living
in the Imperial Valley, California, found these chemicals in all children examined, and the
average phthalate levels found were higher than what had been reported for adults in the CDC
study.

The CDC study confirmed widespread contamination of phthalates with the highest levels of
DEHP, BBP, and DBP exposure in children and women of reproductive age, which raises
specific concerns for potential adverse developmental effects on the fetus and children.
Children’s exposures begin at conception, as chemicals, including phthalates, can cross the
placenta resulting in chemical exposures to the fetus during critical periods of development.

Health effects of longterm exposure to these ubiquitous toxins include:

1. Genital defects including cryptorchidism (undescended testicles) and hypospadias (the
urethral opening is located along the shaft of the penis, rather than at the tip)

‘Researchers at the University of Cincinnati have found evidence that, in addition to affecting the heart, brain and nervous system, bisphenol A (BPA), could affect a mammal’s ability to reproduce by altering the structure of the uterus in ways that can progress to a potentially fatal infection. These findings are published in March 9, 2012, advance online edition of the Journal of Reproductive Toxicology.

“This condition can be caused by chronic exposure to estrogens; however, it is unknown whether estrogenic endocrine disruptors, like bisphenol A, can cause pyometra,” says Scott Belcher, PhD, professor in the department of pharmacology and cell biophysics and principal investigator on the study. “We wanted to see if dietary exposures to BPA induced the condition in animal models of differing sensitivity to estrogens.”

Researchers in this study exposed the models to different dietary doses of BPA in their food, ranging from four to more than 4,000 micrograms per kilogram of body weight per day, or 17á-ethinyl estradiol (EE), a semi-synthetic steroidal estrogen, in doses of one to greater than 150 micrograms per kilogram of body weight per day. A control group received no dose of BPA or EE.

“Using two different strains of mouse models, we monitored to see which doses of endocrine disruptors affected which strains,” Belcher explains. “In a commonly used strain of mice, C57BL/6, pyometra occurred with 15 micrograms per kilogram of body weight per day of EE and 33 micrograms per kilogram of body weight per day of the BPA treatment groups.”

He continues that at the effective concentration of BPA, immune cell numbers in the uteri of the C57BL/6 strain animals exposed were increased five-fold compared with control animals. In a different strain of mouse (CD1), a similar increase in immune cell numbers required 100 times greater exposure. “These results suggest that BPA enhances the immune responsiveness of the uterus and that the heightened responsiveness in the C57BL/6 strain of females is related to increased susceptibility to pyometra,” he says.’

ORAL CONTACEPTIVES/SYNTHETIC REPRODUCTIVE HORMONE CONTAMINATING GROUNDWATER:

‘When EPA-funded scientists at the University of Colorado studied fish in a pristine mountain stream known as Boulder Creek two years ago, they were shocked. Randomly netting 123 trout and other fish downstream from the city’s sewer plant, they found that 101 were female, 12 were male, and 10 were strange “intersex” fish with male and female features. It’s “the first thing that I’ve seen as a scientist that really scared me,” said then 59-year-old University of Colorado biologist John Woodling, speaking to the Denver Post in 2005. They studied the fish and decided the main culprits were estrogens and other steroid hormones from birth control pills and patches, excreted in urine into the city’s sewage system and then into the creek. Woodling, University of Colorado physiology professor David Norris, and their EPA-study team were among the first scientists in the country to learn that a slurry of hormones, antibiotics, caffeine and steroids is coursing down the nation’s waterways, threatening fish and contaminating drinking water.‘

‘Britain faces a £30bn bill to clean up rivers, streams and drinking water supplies contaminated by synthetic hormones from contraceptive pills. Drastic reductions in these chemicals, which have been linked to collapses in fish populations, are proposed in the latest European Union water framework directive. But the plan, which would involve upgrading the sewage network and significantly increasing household water bills, is controversial. Water and pharmaceutical companies dispute the science involved and argue the costs are prohibitive.

By contrast, many environmental researchers say the proposal is sound. Ethinyl estradiol (EE2), the main active ingredient of contraceptive pills, can trigger a condition known as intersex in freshwater fish, which has caused significant drops in populations in many species – although no links have yet been made with human health. “That does not mean we will not find impacts in future,” said toxicologist Professor Richard Owen of Exeter University. “But do we want to wait until we see effects in humans, as we did with thalidomide and BSE, or do we act before harm is done?”

Preventing EE2 from having environmental or health effects is difficult, however. “Ethinyl estradiol is a very potent chemical,” said Professor Susan Jobling of Brunel University. “It is designed to have effects in the human body at very low levels. That means it will also have a significant impact in the environment.”

More than 2.5 million women take birth control pills in the UK. Their EE2 content is excreted and washed into sewage systems and rivers. Even at very low concentrations, this chemical has harmful effects on fish. Males suffer reduced sperm production, with severe effects on populations. In one recent trial, in a Canadian lake, researchers added EE2 until levels in the water reached five parts per trillion (ppt), a minute concentration. Yet fish populations suffered severe problems with one species, the fathead minnow, collapsing completely. In Britain, research by Jobling found that at 50 sites 80% had noticeable levels of EE2 in their water. The closer a downstream sampling point was to a sewage works, the higher the level of EE2 tended to be. Similar levels are found elsewhere in Europe.‘

‘High doses of fluoride have repeatedly been found to interfere with the reproductive system of animals. Commonly observed effects in fluoride-exposed animals include: oxidative stress, damaged sperm, reduced sperm count, and reduced fertility.

According to the authors of a recent study in the journal Reproductive Toxicology:

“We conclude that fluoride treatment is associated with testicular disorders, which may be due to induction of oxidative stress in reproductive organs along with possible adverse effects of fluoride on pituitary testicular axis.The detailed mechanism of fluoride treatment on the male reproductive system has not been elucidated and will be the subject of future experiments ” (Ghosh et al 2002).

“A review of fluoride toxicity showed decreased fertility in most animal species studied. The current study was to see whether fluoride would also affect human birth rates. A U.S. database of drinking water systems was used to identify index counties with water systems reporting fluoride levels of at least 3 ppm. These and adjacent counties were grouped in 30 regions spread over 9 states… Most regions showed an association of decreasing TFR [Total Fertility Rate] with increasing fluoride levels. Meta-analysis of the region-specific results confirmed that the combined result was a negative TFR/fluoride association with a consensus combined p value of .0002-.0004, depending on the analytical scenario. There is no evidence that this outcome resulted from selection bias, inaccurate data, or improper analytical methods. However, the study is one that used population means rather than data on individual women. Whether or not the fluoride effect on the fertility rate found at the county level also applies to individual women remains to be investigated.”

“There are no published reports in the literature on reproductive toxicity of fluoride in men. However, two Russian studies showed that chronic occupational exposure to fluoride-contaminated compounds might affect reproductive function. Men who had worked in the cryolite industry for 10-25 years and who demonstrated clinical skeletal fluorosis showed decreases in circulating testosterone and compensatory increases in follicle-stimulating hormone when compared with controls (Tokar and Savchenko, 1977). Of the exposed men, those exposed to cryolite for 16-25 years had increased luteinizing-hormone levels as compared with men exposed for 10-15 years. Women exposed occupationally to air heavily laden with superphosphates demonstrated increases in menstrual irregularities and genital irritations when compared with unexposed controls (Kuznetzova, 1969). However, occupational exposure to many other compounds in the cryolite and superphosphate industries makes it difficult to implicate any one substance, such as fluoride, in inducing these health effects. A recent study of women employed in silicon water manufacturing (fabrication room workers) showed a relative risk of spontaneous abortion of 1.45 times that of women (of the same ages) who worked in nonfabrication rooms (Schenker et al., 1992). The overall increase in risk ranged from about 20 to 40%. There was a dose-response relationship and a consistency of findings for persons exposed to on specific class of solvents. Spontaneous abortions were also associated with fluoride exposure but only in one work group, and a strong dose-response was not present. The authors characterized the fluoride-associated increase in relative risk of spontaneous abortions as ‘less consistent’ than the results of exposure to some solvents in this study and ‘less consistent’ with other research.”

‘A long-term multi generational feeding study commissioned by the Austrian Agency for Health and Food Safety, carried out by Veterinary University Vienna in November 2008, confirms that feeding mice with genetically modified corn developed by the US-based Monsanto Corporation led to lower fertility and body weight. Lead author of the study Professor Zentek said that there was a direct link between the decrease in fertility and the GM diet, and that mice fed with non-GE corn reproduced more efficiently.

In the study, Austrian scientists performed several long-term feeding trials over 20 weeks with laboratory mice fed a diet containing 33% of a GM variety (NK 603 x MON 810), and a closely related non-GE variety used in many countries. Statistically significant litter size and pup weight decreases were found in the third and fourth litters in the GM-fed mice, compared to the control group.’

A new study done by Russian scientists suggests that Genetically Modified Food may cause long term sterility, that is, sterility in second and third generations. The scientists used hamsters for this research and divided them into groups. One group of hamsters was fed a normal diet without any soy products, a second group was fed non-GMO (genetically modified organism) soy, the third ate GM soy and the fourth group was fed an even higher amount of GM soy than the third.

Each group produced about seven to eight litters of baby hamsters each without any problems. But when the researchers selected new breeding pairs from the offspring, the second generation had a slower growth rate and reached their sexual maturity later than normal. They also had a mortality rate, five times higher than the hamsters who didn’t eat soy. Even more shocking was the fact that nearly all of the third generation GM soy eating hamsters were sterile and also experienced hair growing inside their mouths.

Neonatal female rats were injected ip (0.1 ml/rat) with Tween 80 in 1, 5 or 10% aqueous solution on days 4-7 after birth. Treatment with Tween 80 accelerated maturation, prolonged the oestrus cycle, and induced persistent vaginal oestrus. The relative weight of the uterus and ovaries was decreased relative to the untreated controls. POLYSORBATE 80 & VACCINES: ‘These chemicals are similar to detergents in their ability to increase cell permeability, damage, and bursting. After injection they can rapidly metabolize into sorbitol and ethylene oxide which is much more toxic than the original chemical. When Polysorbate 80 breaks down there are 20 moles of ethylene oxide for every mole of sorbitol. These polysorbates have been shown to cause dangerous, sometimes fatal effects, when given through a needle. Changes in heart function can occur immediately. The blood-brain-barrier (BBB) can be weakened and penetrated, followed by seizures and even death. Anaphylactic and other reactions can occur. Infants are particularly susceptible (some math analysis here). These polysorbates also demonstrate synergistic toxicity with a range of chemicals (here and here) including lindane, thalidomide, even Polymyxin B.

Detergents and emulsifiers promote tumors and cause cells to leak or explode by weakening their walls, with no mechanism for regulating destructive activity.  Detergents are used extensively in cell research precisely because of their ability to break cells open for further analysis.  This catastrophically mimics the membrane attack complex (MAC).

Dr. Diane Harper, lead researcher in the development of two human papilloma virus vaccines, Gardasil and Cervarix, said the controversial drugs will do little to reduce cervical cancer rates and, even though they’re being recommended for girls as young as nine, there have been no efficacy trials in children under the age of 15. Dr. Harper, director of the Gynecologic Cancer Prevention Research Group at the University of Missouri, made these remarks during an address at the 4th International Public Conference on Vaccination which took place in Reston, Virginia on Oct. 2-4, 2009. Although her talk was intended to promote the vaccine, participants said they came away convinced the vaccine should not be received.

“70 percent of all HPV infections resolve themselves without treatment within a year. Within two years, the number climbs to 90 percent. Of the remaining 10 percent of HPV infections, only half will develop into cervical cancer, which leaves little need for the vaccine”

“Four out of five women with cervical cancer are in developing countries.”

“Even if we get the vaccine and continue PAP screening, we will not lower the rate of cervical cancer in the US.”
